The Shreveport/Bossier Community Leaders program was started in 2006 with a grant from The Community Foundation and Capital One Bank. Since the program's inception, these funders have invested over $150,000 in future leaders for the nonprofit community.
In 2008, LANO North incorporated a fund development component into the program. The Change Fund promotes philanthropy by giving Community Leaders the opportunity to solicit donations and gain confidence as fundraisers. All Community Leaders are expected to participate in the Change Fund component by donating $150 and raising $150 for the fund or by raising all $300 required.
Over the last four years the Shreveport Community Leader program has supported the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana; Martin Luther King Health Clinic; Salvation Army; and Common Ground, investing more than $50,000 back into the Shreveport/Bossier nonprofit community through the Change Fund Program.
Each year 30 applicants are accepted to the program. The 2012 LANO North Community Leaders Class has been selected. If you are inerested in the 2013 program, contact Kay Irby.
